This workshop is designed for music teachers who have just started their teaching careers and others who may want a refresher on the basics. Assessment (includng SLOs), pedagogies, strategies, classroom management, Orff instrumentarium and other current topics will be included in this session. Come with your questions!

Two University of Hawaii workshops:

Music and Language Arts Benchmarks: Mixing It Up in the K-2 Inclusive Classroom
October 11, 12 and November 2, 2013, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
UHM Room 201
(3 DOE PDE credits)

The purpose of the course is to integrate music into language arts in K-2 classrooms, including teaching students with disabilities. Participants will be able to relate music activities to the Hawaii Content & Performance Standards (HCPS), Common Core: Language Arts Standards. SLOs for music will also be introduced.                       


Making Music in Your 21st Century Music Classroom

Discover how approaches such as Orff, Kodaly, and Dalcroze teach The Common Core Standards for Music and promote 21st Century Skills (Creativity and Innovation, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Communication and Collaboration). Explore ways to help your students take responsibility for their own learning as they are becoming music makers.
